How to Clean Your CZ Jewelry by Brenda Ogilvie

Cleaning your CZ jewelry is so easy. You can take some of the tips listed here and make it even more convenient and time saving. Your CZ jewelry pieces will sparkle and shine brighter than the most expensive diamond if you take the time to treat them right. They will last for years and years giving you much enjoyment and beauty. Cubic zirconia can sometimes not be differentiated from diamond jewelry pieces because of the sparkle and the intrigues of the designs. Cubic zirconia has been classified by gemologists as being the next type of stone that closely resembles a diamond. They are rising in popularity because of their price and because they are more versatile than wearing a diamond.

The Causes Of Dullness

The CZ is in need of being cleaned just as a diamond would to keep it looking its best. The gems can loose their shine from the many lotions, hairspray, sweat, or everyday environmental materials that get stuck on them. To remove lotion and soap from the CZ jewelry you might find it takes a little more effort than normal. The smallest amount of this being on your jewelry and the shine and sparkle will just fade. It is important to keep the CZ clean to make it look like new all the time.

Soft Brush Cleaning

An easy way to clean your CZ jewelry is to use a soft brush. A toothbrush will work fine for this and will be able to get into the small spots. Warm water and some sort of liquid soap is best. Just dip your brush into it and lightly rub the stones to take off the nasty substances.

Rinse the pieces with warm or hot water and then use a soft cloth to dry the piece. If you need to remove more after the first cleaning, just repeat this process again until clean. For hard substances, the CZ jewelry can be soaked in a third part detergent and two-thirds part hot water to loosen the debris.

Stay Away From Rough Items

Never use harsh and rough ingredients on your CZ jewelry as it will scratch and damage the piece. Bleach, ammonia, or chlorine is to be avoided at all cost. The damage they can cause is irreversible and you will be out a beautiful piece of CZ jewelry. The stone itself may not be damaged but the delicate metal around the stone can be destroyed. If the debris on the CZ jewelry will not come off with a normal soak and cleaning, do not se any of these chemicals to remove it. You will need to have a professional jeweler clean it for you. They will also be able to look at the cubic zirconia and tell if it is loose or needs repair to keep it long lasting.

Take It Off

The most basic of rules for CZ jewelry is that when you apply lotions, soap or other things to your body; remember to remove your CZ jewelry first. It will make it much easier to clean and care for this way. Just do not forget it when you are finished. Also, store your cubic zirconia in a soft place in your jewelry box to stop it from being scratched and lost.
