Breast Feeding by Katie Byrd

More and more mothers come to agree that it is important to breastfeed their babies. This will create an emotional bonding between the mother and baby. The maternal bond is strengthened when the hormones are released during breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is good for mother's body and wallet. Breast milk is the best source of food for babies which provides antibodies and good for digestion. It is recommended that infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life to achieve optimal growth, development and health.

Meanwhile, breastfeeding helps to burn pregnancy pounds as well as helping the uterus and abdomen to return to its original size. During the nursing, the baby will cause mother's body to release oxytocin, which encourages contraction that helps to shrink the uterus back. Breastfeeding can also help to decrease the risk of mother developing breast cancer. In fact, the fact accumulated during pregnancy is used to produce milk. However, weight loss is also subjected to diet and exercise.

Breast milk helps in enhancing brain development and improves cognitive development which formula fails to do so. The difference methods in feeding breast milk to babies may result in difference in IQ level in later stage. According to research, breastfed babies have fewer illnesses and protected from numbers of illness as such pneumonia, botulism, bronchitis and other forms of infections.

Mothers may experience nipples adjustment as they go on stimulated or regular basis. It is important for breastfeeding mothers to be well rested, hydrated to maintain the milk supply. 2 liters water per day is a must to keep mothers nourished.
