While family history is beyond control, unhealthy habits such as smoking, drug abuse and excessive drinking behavior can result complications can be controlled. Smoking will lead to low birth weight and even lead to spontaneous abortions as the situation complicates. Excessive alcohol consumption may lead a child to have severe behavioral problems while drug abuse will put mother's health in danger and also cause premature birth and stunted growth of the baby.
