Pregnancy Test by Katie Byrd

Most women will suspect themselves to be pregnant after having unprotected sex and miss their menstrual period. It is good and advisable to take a test to find out what the symptoms are. The early pregnancy signs can be determined by home pregnancy test or with the help of doctor. However, there are also cases when women have experienced no symptoms at all and leave no clue for them to find out they are pregnant at the early stage.

Pregnancy tests are taken to detect the presence of pregnancy hormone which is also human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) resulted by fertilization of the egg. The longer someone is pregnant, the easier it will be to detect this hormone in her body as this hormone will increase everyday.

There are two different pregnancy tests used to measure the amount of hCG. Many have chosen to run home pregnancy test which can be found at local drugstore and grocery stores. There are few ways to run the test. The most commonly used will be urinate into a cup and dip the stick and hold the stick directly in the urine system. There will ether be a plus sign or line in the result window as a sign of pregnancy.

Some studies have pointed out that the brand, "First Response" can provide the most accurate results. The longer the period to do pregnancy test, the more accurate the result will be. It is advisable to wait for a week after the missed period will increase the accuracy of the test.
